RSPB Isle of Wight update
To Mark Lloyd, Graham Wynne and Martin Salter MP
Many congratulations on achieving a sensible solution to the Isle of Wight fishing crisis. Let’s all hope this can set a long overdue constructive precedent and mutually beneficial relationship between anglers and the RSPB. Only time will tell on that one but I’m sure that the vast majority of anglers would see this as eminently sensible and of real benefit to all species and those who enjoy them.
Your desire and insistence that NUBA’s pivotal role in this process be suppressed at all costs is rather silly. Everyone on the Isle of Wight and the vast majority in the fishing world following this story over the last six months is perfectly aware of our campaign. Your joint efforts towards this extremely welcome outcome does you all great credit.
NUBA’s role in such events should not be feared by anyone. We simply aim to pressure those whose supposed job it is to protect our sport to do so diligently. When they fall short, we will pressure intervene and publicise until they act. NUBA now have 550 members who can continue fishing the River Yar, this alone has always been our only the real goal. Common sense and decency has prevailed. Well done all.
